On set with Harry Potter at the Ministry of Magic.

Some superb filming action yesterday from Scotland Yard Square, Whitehall, London.

Early start! 6:30am for the crew and extras, 6:00am if you wanted breakfast!! A fantastic sunny morning gave the chance of some serious shooting of scenes featuring Harry, Ron, Hermione, Mafalda Hopkirk, Albert Runcorn, Reg Cattermole and 'Skinny Wizard'! - more to come on him.....

Along with 100 extras (who were left in the grand Whitehall banqueting hall for most of the day), on set were the trios' body doubles, stand-ins and Ron's stunt double?! (unsure why he was needed today). Also on set were the majority of filming Unit 1 crew, David Heyman (seen talking at length to Emma during the midday break (image in gallery), David Baron and Director David Yates.
The first action of the day (scene 69) was filmed very early, in fact early enough for us to miss it! and was that of the trio and the mysterious Wizard being near the Gents toilets on the main Whitehall place road, we'll bring more specific details on this scene as we get them, for now though London Taxi Co. took some great shots of the trio, David Heyman and the Wizard, check them out in their gallery.

Scotland Yard scenes (scene 70) centered on the trio making their way past the Old Scotland yard building, turning a corner by the entrance to the Ministry of Magic (same corner used previously with scenes featuring Harry, Dumbledore and the phone box!). We see the trio dressed in their Muggle clothes, hurrying to and from the Ministry with some purpose and being very distracted. Both Ron and Hermione were pictured with their purple Ministry passes in hand at either side of the Ministry entrance. A few extra 'Muggles' were used in the background for these scenes at both ends of the small street, walking back and forth at some speed (for a good 10-12 takes) which should add to the sense of urgency when we see the finished footage. Great photos were taken of the action which are in the gallery HERE.

Fans were also able to watch scenes 71 and 72 being filmed today. So quite a treat to have them all in such a small area. Hermione, Ron and Harry walk up the street, Hermione carrying her handbag, Ron and Harry with Ministry passes which they are looking at very deliberately. Finally passing them to Hermione to read, when suddenly Ron is tracked and stopped by this 'Skinny Wizard' wearing a grey shirt and tie and black hat, he grabs Ron's arm while the trio all turn to see what is happening!

Next sees Ron stage the capture of Mafalda Hopkirk. While Ron walks up the street, he suddenly stops to tie up his shoelace in front of Mafalda, forcing her to double take, Harry steps out of a hidden doorway and stuns her, causing her to fall into his arms while he drags her inside.

Not only were the trio dressed in their Muggle clothes today, but there was a chance to see them 'transform' after they had taken their Polyjuice potion! Quite a few scenes featuring Albert, Mafalda, and Reg were shot as they hurried once again up the street away from the Ministry and trouble. Being followed closely again by the Wizard, this time wearing a grey overcoat. Plenty of scenes were shot with all the main cast in or out of overcoats, most noticeably Harry with his knee length leather coat for a good few takes and also in his now well worn cream jacket; with some great photos of him holding his wand and casting a spell to come (great video to come of this too!).

After lunch, of which most of the cast stayed on set and a few retired to a local hotel; the unpredictable weather brought clouds, rain and no more sunshine, so sadly there wasn't a lot more which could be shot. Let's hope the footage captured today is good enough otherwise it could be all back again!

As WB had a permit to close to street until around 4pm there wasn't any more time to spare and footage of 'working' Muggles was filmed right up until the end of play, getting in as many shots as possible.

***Again, PLEASE note, these pictures and words are being shared here at this site; to allow Harry Potter fans that do not have the ability to check out the sets themselves, see a little of the action. Please, if you are a fansite or newsite, do NOT take these, and put them up as your own. Linking back to and stating where 'your' news and photos came from shouldn't be a demand, it should be common courtesy.
Thanks much!

Move Over 007!!!
Check out the Mail Online for a great interview with Rupert Grint. Rupert speaks about his ice-cream van, his love of cars, meeting the First Lady, Michelle Obama and how losing his friend helped give his life perspective. For the three main child stars of the Potter movies, the transition to adult acting was always going to be a challenge, yet Rupert is widely regarded as the most naturally gifted actor among them. He’s just completed filming on Wild Target, in which he stars alongside Bill Nighy as an apprentice hitman. ‘The best thing about that was learning how to handle guns,’ he says. ‘We were at a shooting range, and I thought it would be easy. Just aim and fire, right? 'But it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I wasn’t prepared for how powerful and loud a gun is. When you fire, it physically knocks you back. But I did learn to take a 9mm Glock handgun apart and put it back together again blindfolded.’

Could Oscar's Be On The Cards?
A reporter from Hollywood.com enthuses that after seeing a special screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, "I was blown away like a Quidditch player on a supercharged broomstick. Well, stand back because now the Potter-loving beast in me has been unleashed after having witnessed a film that was not only exquisite in its production values, but was also charming, funny, scary, enchanting, moving (stop me, the adjectives could go on and on) and dare I say, sexy. Brilliantly directed by David Yates, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a tour-de-force that combines style and substance, special effects and heart and most importantly great performances from all of the actors young and not-so-young. Daniel Radcliffe has evolved into a really fine young actor who gives the film its emotional core. However, if Radcliffe is the heart, Michael Gambon is the film’s soul as Albus Dumbledore; Gambon gives a powerfully subtle performance as the de-facto father figure to young Mr. Potter. Of course, the always great Alan Rickman gives another menacingly creepy and memorable turn as the evil and duplicitous Severus Snape. The cinematography, music, set design and costumes are all amazing, and the film has a truly rich look to it reminiscent of the best of the old-school Hollywood epics".
.......What more can we at HP4U say but "WOW!"
Cover Girl Watson
The Times Online has published an interview with Emma Watson that chronicles her early days as girlie swot Hermione to the simply gorgeous Emma that we see today on the front row of fashions finest catwalk shows.
Kissing Emma Watson Was Strange!
In an Interview with the Mail on Sunday, Rupert Grint has described his long-awaited screen kiss with Emma Watson as a "strange" experience. "We've known each other for 10 years so it was a bit like kissing my sister," he explains. "We were determined to get it right the first time, but our first try was a disaster because we both felt so self-conscious and we couldn't stop laughing." But despite the attentions of Harry Potter fans, Rupert admits he is "quite insecure" around girls and has yet to find anyone to suit his "weird" tastes. "I've never been seriously involved with anyone. I've certainly never been in love. I've always preferred to keep things casual." "It's not that I find it hard to meet girls – they do come up and chat me up from time to time. Sometimes I'm interested, I tend not to go for the prettier ones. I prefer the quirkier types."
Jessie Cave Interview
Jessie Cave explains, to the LA Times, how after attending an open-call audition that she found out that she had grabbed the part of Lavender Brown, Hermione's smitten roommate-turned-romantic competition. Jessie talked about scaring Rupert Grint, who plays Lavender's sweetheart, Ron, with her (perhaps all-too-realistic?) audition, the actors' first kiss and how Lavender puts up a good fight for Ron's heart. However Jessie admits that Lavender is the catalyst in setting up Hermione and Ron in the final chapter of the saga, as without Lavender they wouldn't have been forced together, to acknowledge their feelings so abruptly.
Screenwriter Extraordinaire

Check out the LA Times interview with HBP Screenwriter Steve Kloves who explains about how Ginny and Harry get together, why most of Dumbledore's pensive memories of young Voldemort, then Tom Riddle, have been cut from the film and why he emailed JK Rowling to ask her what the actual 12 Uses for Dragons Blood are. This is a super interview that discusses the climactic moment between Snape and Dumbledore? In the book, it’s a short but intense scene. Kloves explains, "It is informed by everything [Potter readers] have come to know is true. So if you watch the film carefully, there are performance moments that are quite extraordinary, Alan Rickman [who plays Snape] especially. There is something we added that you can look forward to, a short scene between Harry and Snape prior to the big event. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays to the audience. It should be a haunting moment for Harry. While I was writing, I just had a notion about a moment between him and Snape, something Harry could look back on and question as to why he didn’t act differently".
Mr Weasley Speaks!

Mark Williams who plays Arthur Weasley spoke to the LA Times and commented on whether he had a paternal role on set with the young cast? They're bored of it now, but there was a time when we first started where, particularly after lunch, Dan [Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint] could just have this giggle hour. It just reminded me of being back in school. you know, that time around 2 or 3 o'clock, you just couldn't say anything serious. But, I have to say that they show remarkable forbearance ... They must be so bored with talking to middle-aged actors throughout their childhood.
Where Will David Yates Split The Deathly Hallows?
In an honest and open interview published in the Los Angeles Times was posed the big question.... had director David Yates decided on the splitting point - the juncture at which the seventh film will stop. "Yes, I think we have," he said. "Things can change when you edit, of course, but the idea now is that it will be not long after the sequence that we are filming here today. That's what we're experimenting with. We've had three or four different ideas about where to cut off the seventh film. Traditionally, the movies have ended with a death or a bereavement, some sort of passage or arrival. This time we think we will end with more a cliffhanger. Again, though, that's the thought as of this moment."

Strike a Pose..... Teen Vogue

Emma Watson may give up acting after Harry Potter

Emma Watson is due to start university this autumn and has mentioned that she would be happy to step back from the limelight if she does not receive any tempting offers.
"Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione – like, I felt that it was life or death – I don't want to act again," she told US magazine Teen Vogue.
"I don't think I've ever been this tired in my life. I literally wear my pyjama bottoms to set. I roll out of bed and put on a hoodie and some Ugg boots."
Radcliffe is Growing Up!

Daniel Radcliffe turns 20 next month and in the recent edition of Parade magazine he speaks frankly about Equus, Harry Potter, dating and bungee jumping!
On the prospect of turning 20 he says, "I’ve noticed I make noises when I get up and sit down now, I mean, my knees are rotten bad—I refused to wear knee pads too many times when I was doing stunts, and I just clobbered them up a bit. I am an old man in a young man’s body".

Deathly Hallows - Swinley Forest, June 2009.

Exclusive set report from Swinley Forest, Bracknell, Berkshire. First, a huge HP4U thank you to our “Harry Potter crazed” reporter Ashley, and her astounding mobile phone! Ashley went along to the set as often as possible after classes; and her feedback forms the majority of this report. As you know filming has been well underway for the past two weeks in Swinley Forest and despite news leaking through the local press, there was a distinct lack of fans in attendance for the shoot right up until the final few days. Ashley mentioned how surprised most were, including some of the crew and security, that there were not more fans around at such a public location aside from a few children on bikes. Some boys, who one day took along a life-size Dobby, and a few others with Potter books in the hope of meeting one of the actors. There were a lot of trailers at the location base and this is where the cast and crew congregated very early each morning before being transported to one of five locations based within the forest. Regulars on location were Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson and in addition there were around 20 Death Eaters, including the very scary Fenrir Greyback!! Plus the Snatchers, (two of which are played by Chase Armitage and Adam Brashaw) whom are well known already in the UK as ‘urban acrobatics’ (or experts in ‘free running’), and also trained in various forms of Martial Arts. DO check out Adam's clip, and also this awesome footage of Chase which is incredible. And just in case, PLEASE don't try any of this at home! From one of my own contacts, I'm told the footage and scenes these guys filmed with the trio in the forest are out of this world and use very few effects if any! See for yourself why.
We’re awaiting confirmation if ‘Hagrid’ or Robbie Coltrane filmed a scene but definately there was a screen double, possibly ex-England Rugby star Martin Bayfield (as featured in previous films) shooting one or more of the scenes. The scenes being shot here will be featured in both parts 1 & 2 of The Deathly Hallows. Night scenes and day action were shot by both film units; these include the capture of Harry, Ron and Hermione by the Snatchers (who then deliver them to Malfoy Manor), several scenes involving the Death Eaters and a scene in which Ron chases a rabbit through the forest!!!! Special effects teams were on hand to coordinate with the crew, a large stunt team, and overall a huge production team to film what no doubt will be no more than 5-6 minutes on screen time. It's reported that filming was over-schedule for this particular shoot, as the unpredictable English weather served up too much sunshine when the atmosphere of some of the scenes called for greying skies and a darker feeling. Which in turn meant filming longer than originally planned. A fan who happened to make it close enough to one of the sets being used suggested parts of the ground were so scorched by the sun that sections of the grass had to be painted green to be included in the shots! Another young visitor who was lucky enough to catch a glimse of Harry before filming commented at how scary he looked after special effects make up was used, no doubt to film his clash with the Deatheaters – ‘it looked like he’d been run over by buses’ she said. No doubt a surreal moment on set and as shown in some of Ashley’s photo’s was the number of ‘body doubles’ for Harry, Ron and especially Hermione! – ‘it was hard to get pictures of Hermione, there were so many of her wearing the same clothes, they all had similar hair and features they all looked like her as they came to and from the base’. I’ve been asked to make a special mention by one female fan of Dave Legeno who judging by the photographs looks every bit perfect in his casting as Fenrir Greyback. The well known UK Actor was seen in full make up setting off to get his lunch (on a plate!); and on his return playfully growled at a couple of fans "What you looking at!" For all of you who cant wait for SPECIFIC details of the scenes being shot as with our previous 'Burnham Beeches' report, we’ll post them shortly, but for now enjoy the photo's in the gallery. They can be seen here

***
An important note to a couple of fellow HP fan sites (again) who wouldn't know a film set, premier, studio or an exclusive if they fell over one. Unlike a film set in a public place (where anyone can take photos with standard camera's and photos from Papparazi appear in the news, etc (i.e shell cottage, central London), Ashley went to considerable risk and expense in obtaining these pictures and gathering information for you to be able to use at NO cost to you. Therefore, link back to the source so everyone can enjoy the ONLY shots from Swinley Forest or future images we obtain from other secure sets WILL be blocked.

Evanna Lynch Speaks of Luna and HBP in New Interview

Irish Central has posted a really interesting new interview with Evanna Lynch, who plays the part of Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series, in which the young actress discusses her eccentric character as well as her role in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie. Enjoy!
Harry, Ron and Hermione run for their lives.....

Following Wednesday's visit to the studio by President Obama's Family it was back to normal yesterday for the trio and their ongoing attempts to escape the Deatheaters!
Filming was well underway in Swinley Forest, Berkshire with scenes of up to 20 deatheaters hunting the gang through the various forest locations, sending curses flying everywhere.Using five specially prepared areas, Harry, Ron and Hermione were running through the trees at full speed in their attempt to get away once again following their escape from the trap at Luna's house, set by Xenophilius. The forest doesn't contain a natural lake but we think it might be added later by the FX department. An impressive set was dressed with SFX 'snow' to be used in the Winter scenes while other sets were left natural.

SPOILER ALERT:

For those of you who wanted exact details of the BURNHAM BEECHES location shoot (seen it reported as Burnley Beeches on a few sites) and the 'Forest of Dean' set we can give you some details.
Mainly 'tent' scenes, being filmed were 139 & 145 with the trio in their tent during Winter, they are discussing Dumbledore and Grindlewald, Harry realises his wand is broken while Ron is busy explaining how he found them.
Scenes 140 and part 141 Harry sees the silver doe patronus and follows.
Scenes 89, 91, 98, 100 featuring Summer scenes and Ron constantly scanning his radio for updates! They hear news of Snape while Harry checks the Marauders Map. The trio hear a funny ticking noise and seek to find out what it is.....

As always stay tuned to HP4U for up to date filming news, including Harry and Bathilda's fight! some great Grimmauld place action, an extensive Scotland shoot coming up this Summer + location reports from a secret Hertfordshire location, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and last but not least a major London scene to be shot VERY soon which we'll let you know of.

HBP IMAX Release Delayed, Film to Contain 12 Minutes of 3D Footage

According to this article in the Hollywood Reporter, investors aren't too happy with the news that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince won't hit IMAX screens until two weeks after the film opens on regular screens. IMAX shares dropped 4% on Monday after a Wall Street analyst said the delay "should negatively impact IMAX box office results".

On the bright side, IMAX HBP will contain 12 whole minutes of 3D footage. Bring it on!

Be aware! filming restrictions WILL be in place for this shoot with most of the sets being inside the forest so access IS limited and DO be aware if you do go either take a bike or be prepared for LOTS of walking!

JK Rowling Attends Charity Gala

JK Rowling looked absolutely stunning in a sky blue gown yesterday at the annual Raisa Gorbachev Foundation charity gala. The gala, which was hosted by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, has become one of the most successful fundraisers of the social calendar. The foundation was established in memory of Mr Gorbachev's late wife and raises millions of pounds a year to help find a cure for cancer in children. This year's event was especially poignant as it marks the tenth anniversary of Mrs Gorbachev's death from leukaemia in 1999.
The lavish gala was organised by a committee that includes Madonna, London Evening Standard proprietor Alexander Lebedev and his son Evgeny - who is chairman of the foundation. Others on the committe include artist David Hockney and Lady Rothermere, wife of Viscount Rothermere, chairman of The Daily Mail and General Trust. Click here to see more photos of the star studded event as reported by the Mail Online.
