Felton @ ComicCon 2010

Also, WB reports that there was footage shown at this years CC will not be shown anywhere else.
But luckily, there are a few reports on what was seen.
Once the trailer ended, a scene with the Big Three begins. We find our heroes in a diner, contemplating next steps after the fall of Hogwarts, when two assassins try to, well, assassinate them using magic wands. Hermione takes refuge behind a table and returns wand fire and then we cut to a new scene with Voldemort.

Potter's nemesis sits at the head of a long table, joined by Snape, who then instructs Voldemort about Potter's whereabouts. It is here that Voldemort says the chilling line: "We all agree that I must be the one to kill Harry Potter."

Ron and Harry get into a shoving match and then its quick shots of those who have died protecting Harry, a shot with several Harry Potters standing around, as well as a glimpse of the forcefield surrounding Hogwarts burning away.

The footage also gave us a look at Bill Nighy in the role of Rufus Scrimgeour, the new Minister of Magic.

The last shot was a very dramatic, very slow-mo stand-off between Harry and Voldemort, aiming their wands at each other as their magics collide in the middle. Harry, knees inching toward the ground, looks like he is about to meet his match.

Slytherin Necklace
Resurrection Stone
Tom Riddle's Diary
The Elder Wand
Ravenclaw's Diadem
Hufflepuff's Cup

Personally, I have to say, that Diadem looks like it was created by someone whom has never read the books at all. Here's to hoping for better things.

Behind the Scenes & Outtakes
For those of us that haven't run out yet to get the Harry Potter Lego Collected Edition, some kind people have posted videos that are within the game. Check the newest one, which is an outtakes and behind the scenes, out below.

Inspirational
A compilation of quotes have been pieced together of the actors of Harry Potter, in which they tell where their inspiration came from.
James Phelps: “I would say the film that made me most interested in films and acting in films when I was growing up was 'Forrest Gump'. It has always been my favourite film for many reasons; there is no bad guy and the story went into real events in history. Plus Tom Hanks is a great actor, which makes it all so believable.”
Tom Felton : “ There are a few films that have definitely influenced me on my journey to becoming an actor. I remember as a kid loving ‘Robin Hood’ and all the James Bond movies were a big inspiration to me as a child. Those were some of the films that I thought, “That would be a very cool job to do”. So, I’m very lucky enough to be here.”
Jason Isaacs: “A film that changed my life and has throughout my life is ‘The Wizard of Oz’. I first saw it when I was a little kid…on a giant screen and it was overwhelming – it was awash with colours and music and extraordinary looking people…One of the great things about the film is that it makes you think about films.”
Imelda Staunton: “When I was a kid, I watched a lot of black and white films, and I was very influenced by an actress called Bette Davis, who wasn’t particularly attractive, but really, really good. A film I really liked was ‘All About Eve’.”
Bonnie Wright: “The film that changed my life was ‘A Little Princess’, which I remember watching when I was a little girl and it made me really believe that inside every girl that there is a little princess.
Jessica Hynes, : “I’m a big fan of ‘Bugsy Malone’. It’s a classic. Jodie Foster as Tallulah is jaw-droppingly brilliant. That was one of the first moments when I thought I just want to do that so much.”
Toby Jones : “Films that inspired my journey within the industry include ‘Whistle Down the Wind’ and ‘Dougal and The Blue Cat’ – I loved these as a child. I particularly liked the original Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder. He was fantastically charismatic!”
Also below, is a quick video containing Tom Felton at the end.

David Heyman Talks Deathly Hallows Split

In a new interview with MuggleCast, producer David Heyman discussed the splitting of Deathly Hallows and an added scene! Listen to the full episode, with more great stuff from David, by going here or read the part about Deathly Hallows below.

The script [for Part 1] was written with an end in mind. The first draft was written with one ending and as we developed it, it went to another ending. And then we reverted in part to the original ending because we felt it allowed us a more emotional conclusion and felt like it was more complete, as it were. But we’ve added this other scene which I think is really amazing – and I can’t tell you where the break is, I’m sorry – but I do feel it will be incredibly dramatic, very moving and make people want to watch the next film.

Tom Felton Talks Ralph Fiennes and Jason Isaacs

In another new interview with Tom Felton, he discusses Ralph Fiennes and Jason Isaacs in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

He said: “I’ve never worked with Ralph one-on-one [until recently], Alan Rickman was there and several dark presences so it was very daunting and there are some horrifically evil speeches. There’s a lot to look forward to, definitely.”

The actor said working with some of Britain’s finest actors had been a privilege. “There are some scenes where literally three of the four people there have been knighted which is bizarre,” he laughed. “There are a few times when you’ve got to pinch yourself to stay in character, you learn stuff from them without even realising it I think. It’s a huge honour” he said.

Despite filming now being over, Tom said he’d definitely be keeping in touch with his on-screen dad Jason Isaacs who plays Lucius Malfoy. “Jason is a legend. He is like another father to me in the acting world, he’s keen to hear about future projects and he’s kind of been one of the adults who has never been afraid to say ‘why don’t you try this, why don’t you try that’ and as far as being a young actor goes he’s been extremely helpful so I have a lot to thank Jason for definitely,” he said.

New Information on Leavesden Studios Fan Attraction

The Times has a new article where it talks about what WB will be doing with Leavesden Studios.

As the final two films of JK Rowling’s series approach completion, a new “Hogwarts experience” is to open in the studios where they are made. The visitor attraction will include recreations of some of the boy wizard’s haunts, including the Hogwarts school hall and Albus Dumbledore’s study. The plans, part of an expansion of Leavesden, the Warner Bros studio in Hertfordshire, are Britain’s answer to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a 20-acre attraction at the Universal resort in Orlando, Florida, due to open this Friday.Although the Leavesden site will not be as large and will consciously not be a theme park, it will provide fans with the real costumes and sets used in the films. There will be replicas of characters, as well as clothes worn by Hermione Granger, played by Emma Watson, Voldemort, Rubeus Hagrid, Professor Filius Flitwick and the Weasley family.

Epilogue Filming for Deathly Hallows & Photos of the Trio

Some very interesting reports are going around the internet today, first we have a report from RGN stating that the Deathly Hallows epilogue is filming! Sad, but awesome! “I wandered down to King’s Cross Station this fine May morning, in the hope that Warner Brothers are not aware of the level of interest in their little film, and that the public would be casually able to stop and watch Rupert Grint and fellow cast members filming the Deathly Hallows epilogue. It was not a huge surprise to find out that Warner Brothers are cleverer than I am, and that they have taken steps to prevent passing passersby from discovering just how gorgeous a thirty-seven year old Auror is. Despite the utter failure of my secret mission, it is worth letting you know that epilogue filming is underway, and should continue all week, because I am sure that you all want to know that this amazing decade long cinematic journey is nearly over.”

Also, there are some photos of the trio leaving their hotel with their faces covered; prosthetics for the epilogue perhaps? But they are wearing the same clothes from an earlier scene in the movie so who knows? See the photos in here at Magical-Menagerie!

Thanks Magical-Menagerie!

Daniel Radcliffe Talks About his Acting Future

In a new interview with Metro.co.uk Daniel Radcliffe talks about his future after Harry Potter.

‘It’s bizarre. Most working actors want to become stars. I sort of am a star because of Harry Potter,’ he told Radio Times. ‘And I would love to become a working actor. I love auditioning. But, to be honest, I’m happy to ride this as long as it goes,’ he continued. ‘If it goes for two months after Potter, I’m happy. If it goes for six years, I’m happy.’

‘I truly believe that if I don’t make it as an actor, I will make it another way – I don’t have doubts about myself. I’ve been through all the stuff.’

John Hurt Talks Deathly Hallows and Potter

The Times Online has a new interview with John Hurt where he talks abut filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

The franchise It’s very strange really. I did the first one and thought that would be it. Nobody knew whether it was going to be successful. When I came back last December to do the last two, suddenly everybody’s grown up. Daniel’s 20. It’s very peculiar.

Potter fans

They’re crazy about Ollivander — they love him! I’m not sure they will when they see the next one when he’s being tortured. I’ve never been pestered for an autograph. I get asked — usually by parents because the children are a bit too shy to ask. But I’ve never been pestered; I have a very good class of fan.

Tom Felton talks Deathly Hallows Epilogue
In a new interview with MTV, Tom Felton discusses how they will be filming the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Epilogue.

“For nearly two months, we’ve all been doing prosthetic tests and all sorts of preparation for the epilogue,” Felton said. “I’ve been having some aging training. You’ve got to walk differently. There’s a slump in your walk.” Those tests must have been successful because a schedule to shoot the scene has already been set. “It’s going to be the last big thing that we do. It’s going to be on location,” he explained, going on to say that it should take three days of filming to complete.

Until then, he’s been busy practicing how to play a character on the verge of turning 40. So how exactly does one train to be old? “It’s bizarre,” Felton laughed. “We have a lovely guy who comes in. It was a little weird the first time — imagine you’ve got weights on your arms! There have been a number of times where I nearly laughed and I had to hold it in.”

Felton should finally wrap up his decade-long commitment to the franchise in June, about six months before the November release date of the first part of “Deathly Hallows.” And while a bit of sadness has crept into the proceedings at the thought of leaving the series behind, he’s eagerly anticipating the chance to film the epilogue at long last and thankful that he — and not an older actor — will be in front of the camera when it all goes down.

“We’re probably at the most exciting bit,” he said. “Certainly the part I’ve been most looking forward to. It’s going to be very exciting.”

New from Yates
In a new report with David Yates discusses filming around Radcliffe's illnesses, Rupert Grint discussing what the trio do on their breaks, and a few bits from Felton and Coltrane.

"Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) was not feeling well so he was not around for the interviews. Director David Yates stressed the importance of Daniel showing up to work soon. He said, “We could be in trouble if Daniel Radcliffe is out again. I hope he feels better soon.”
David, who has done two “Harry Potter” movies already and is now doing the final two, revealed that he tries to relax by doing yoga during lunch time and is planning to take three months off after doing the much-awaited final installments."
Rupert peppered his replies with a lot of his characteristic “yeahs” and “ums.” He revealed that he plays Guitar Hero with Daniel and Emma Watson when they are not filming and he definitely looks forward to keeping in touch with them when they are done doing the “Harry Potter” movies.
"Tom was charming and eloquent and did not look the least like the “bad guy.” “No more blonde evil wizards for me after ‘Harry Potter,’” he said. “Probably I’ll be a vampire next,” he kiddingly said.
Robbie, dressed in costume, amusedly shared, “You probably don’t know but Daniel loves The Killers and Lady Gaga.”

Alan Gilmore Interview
UniversalOrlando.com has a new q&a with the creative mastermind behind the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Q: We know that, while very popular in the U.S., Harry Potter is a major part of popular culture in the U.K. So, how did the story inspire your imagination?
A: Harry Potter has an enormous fan base who are very interested in his world and the fact that his world is located in the U.K. And, because the stories are based in our popular culture, the world Harry inhabits is exactly what we expect it to be. The landscape Stuart Craig, the production designer for the films, created for the films is entirely plausible and rooted in reality. Harry's school and house felt very familiar but also have an extra quality -- a sense of heightened reality. So our goal in creating The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was to create a place based in that reality, which you can really believe in. This real world setting made it quite interesting to imagine all these spaces and places Harry could exist in.
To actually be involved in the Harry Potter film projects was very exciting. I have known Stuart for several years. The chance to work with him and learn how he designs, and then see how he realized his spaces and his fantastic visions, was a really unique experience.
Q: With your job as art director, both on the films and here at Universal Orlando Resort, what has been your role in bringing The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to life?
A: I see myself as a conduit, shepherding Stuart's design and acting as a guardian for his vision and designs from all of the movies. I have worked alongside the film design team from London for a long time now and have learned so much from them. We sourced from an extensive back catalog of sets and settings from the films, and many of the spaces we created for the films have been reinterpreted for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
In trying to bring Harry's world to life I have worked closely with the team at Universal Creative, in a very new way, and we've had to bring settings seen remotely in the films close together here in Orlando. The overall composition was very carefully considered.
We have had to invent some new elements as well. We have developed Hogsmeade in great detail, including features specifically created for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We also brought a lot of iconic stores into Hogsmeade which is something the fans will be quite excited to visit and experience.
Q: What has been the biggest challenge in bringing the visuals from the film to life here at Universal Orlando Resort, and what has the main difference been between designing for the two?
A: The film world is a very different challenge to the theme park world. In the film world the viewer is the camera. You know where your viewer is, and you can design to that viewer, composing the settings from one or two viewpoints. Whereas, with the theme park world, it has to work from every angle. We had to think about multiple angles, from a child's point-of-view, to a very tall person's point-of-view, and for everyone in between.
I'll be honest, everything was challenging. We had a very good run up of two years, and it gave us a lot of time to work out the details. For example, the rock that Hogwarts sits on was daunting at first but we soon found a way to create the most realistic finish in any theme park. It is a great success. The snow was also very difficult. We really wanted to have snow everywhere, creating the most amazing snowscape and that cold Scottish feeling. Psychologically the snow creates a sense of a lower temperature. To try and bring that cold to Orlando, that is quite hard. In the end, I hope what we created gives guests a good experience!
Q: What element(s) of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter are you the most proud of and excited about? Or are there favorite elements from the films that were you are now able to realize in full?
A: Oh, absolutely, I think the castle is the primary example of being able to realize the visuals from the film on such a grand scale, it has never been built to this extent before. We made a very concerted effort to bring Hogwarts to life, making it really look impressive from every angle.
Hogsmeade and the Three Broomsticks is another area that has really come off beautifully. The Three Broomsticks is an incredible space, the detail and finishes are amazing. This is a great joy to me.
But overall, I think the detail, the absolute rigorous pushing of detail is beyond compare. Everything is correct. Our mantra was authenticity, and I worked very closely with the entire team to make sure we have every area detailed as much as it possibly could be. There is hardly a corner that you can't look in that does not have some amazing quality of detail, finish and paint.
I brought many film making techniques to this project also. A layer of aging was applied throughout making everything appear to be old and lived in. I think the feeling of actually entering Harry's world is what people will take away from visiting.
Q: If you could give a tour of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to guests, what would be the first thing you would tell them and what would be the first thing you would want them to experience? A: I would want them to come through the entry arch at Hogsmeade and take a moment to just absorb the amazing spectacle in front of them. The viewpoint just beyond the arch beside the train looking toward the castle is the most encompassing view of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It really gives you a sense of this amazing place. It should be quite magical to see the reactions on the fans and guests faces as I am sure this will be the first time most people will have ever been in an environment like this. So, for me, I think this starting point is where you want to have your first experience and explore Harry's world.

New Deathly Hallows Set Report with Interviews
The Philippine Daily Inquirer has posted a sample from their upcoming set report for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In the preview we hear from Rupert Grint, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton and David Barron.

Rupert Grint wasn’t needed on the set, but he graciously came to talk to us. The actor who plays Ron Weasley shared his feelings as the blockbuster franchise ends [...]: “It’s a weird feeling. I’ve spent half of my life doing these movies. It’s quite emotional. But, at the same time, I’m looking forward to the freedom to do other films.” The red-haired actor, more talkative now than when we first met him several years ago, also talked about his much-awaited kissing scene with Emma Watson (Hermione Granger). Saying he was nervous since he has known Emma as a friend for 10 years, Rupert revealed that it was hard to concentrate. “The first take was quite hard,” said Rupert, who recalled that they did four takes of the smooch, which many “Harry Potter” fans around the world can’t wait to see.

Like Rupert, who had scenes with a boy actor who plays his child (“The kid looks just like me!”), Tom Felton also acted with a youngster who portrays his offspring. “It was bizarre, nerve-wracking and poignant at the same time, because it reminded me of how I began,” pointed out Tom, who is as nice in person as he is evil as Draco Malfoy.

Blessed with a winking sense of humor, Robbie said that while it takes many hours to put on all that hair, “two young ladies” come with oil to help him take off all that expensive wig and makeup at the end of the day. “Somebody has to do it,” Robbie said with a smile, as he played with his mile-long beard.

Co-producer David Barron disclosed that no decision has yet been made as to where the much-anticipated movies will be split into two parts. “There are three sensible places where we can do the split,” he shared.

Kevin
Yo! You're not checking emails, so writing in here. How come that last post you made in, you just saved it to draft. You're right, some of us don't agree. But that doesn't mean or not make it news.:P You still have to remember, none of us here in America have any chance of getting close to anything Harry Potter related. This will be it for us.;)
And as for the price tag? I don't know how much (or even if you have large theme parks there like Universal) they charge over there for parks like this. But it's been around $80.00 for a park ticket over in Florida for many, Many years. And the truth of it? Even before Harry Potter came to Universal Studios, it was worth it. I go usually every other year there. And they have a lot to see and do. Disney World and Sea World are the same. The cost per tickets are about that.;)
Anyhow, another person sent in a comment asking if we were going to show anymore pics, as we 'are the only site that does'.:) Gotta make you smile there.
Ok, going. Cheers!

Deathly Hallows Promos
Well so ok, Mugglenet took a piece down later that was deemed whatever. But for those of us that're Twilight fans as well, this might be of interest.
Mugglenet had the following to say:
"As we get closer to the November release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Pt.1), the question on everyone's minds is: When will the promo train begin to roll?
To date we've only received two (1,2) official stills and one trailer from the film.
Tonight we're learning that those small numbers will change in June, when Warner Brothers plans to launch an "aggressive marketing campaign that launches with Twilite [sic]". This bit of information comes from Kelly O'Connor - Vice President of Exhibitor Services for Warner Bros. Domestic Theatrical Distribution. She's in charge of the WB trailers and advertising materials for theaters in the Unites States and Canada.
By 'Twilite', Ms. O'Connor is referring to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse which arrives 30-June-2010. We wouldn't be surprised if Deathly Hallows promo material starts appearing slightly before the Eclipse release.
Thanks to MN reader Scott, who got in touch with Ms. O'Connor recently.

Harry Potter Attraction to Open at Leavesden Studios in the U.K.

Warner Bros. has purchased Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England (the TRUE home of Harry Potter) -- the place where all the Harry Potter films were produced -- and will be opening a Harry Potter attraction there in 2012.

Details are limited on the wizard-themed destination, but it's going to be huge. According to the Watford Observer, the site will offer tours of the old Harry Potter film sets after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows wraps later this year. It will be big enough to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors per day, so we know Warner Bros. has big plans.

Leavesden Studios used to be a place were aircrafts were built during World War II. Now it's one of the only places in the U.K. where large scale productions can be made. Warner Bros. will spend over $153 million to redevelop site, making it their European headquarters and creating hundreds of jobs

New Warwick Davis Interview

Warwick Davis has let us know, through his Twitter, that he was interviewed by SciFiNow and in the interview he discusses Harry Potter and the fact that he finishes filming in June!

So, Harry Potter. How did you become involved with the films, was it through the audition process?
It was an audition process, yes. I’d had my ear out for a while, because I’d read the book and thought that it could be really good. And when I heard that they were doing it I knew that I had to get on to this. So the agent said that I had an audition, I prepared well for it, went in and did it. It was a great experience, I had lots of fun with it, and I came away with a good feeling. But sometimes, in an audition that’s not really a good sign. I’ve often done that and thought ‘Yes, yes I‘ve nailed it,’ and then you don’t. And other times I’ve come out a bit anxious and I’ve got it. So three weeks went by, and then I heard that ‘Yeah, you’ve got that, and you’ve got that as well’, I had two parts. But then, at that time, little did I know that it was going to become a part of my life for 10 years. It was 2000 then, it’s now 2010, and I’m still doing it. I still will be doing it until June.

How did you feel about the decision to split the final two films?
I think it was good, because I think sometimes in the past we could have done that with the other stories, because they are so rich. I’m never actually disappointed… well, I am disappointed because sometimes it leaves my parts out… but I think the readership is sometimes disappointed. They’ll read in their minds, and in the later books certainly, you were starting to think ‘Ooh, I wonder what this is going to look like in the movie, I bet this will look fantastic’ and then when certain sequences weren’t in there, there was possible disappointment. So I think it’s a really good decision, because we can do justice to what is the last book and what is the finale of, if you take it as a whole saga, the end has to build, do you know what I mean? I don’t remember a point in the films though, where we knew ‘Right, now we’re going all the way’. I just remember each time we were finishing, we were wondering if we were going to be back again. If I’d have known 10 years ago it would have been lovely. Because as an actor, you really live day-to-day, you live by each job you do. And my theory of really keeping my feet on the ground is to say that there is no rule to say a producer will use me again in a film. So I look at this job that I’m doing and relish it, because it may well be my last. Because who’s to know? It keeps you grounded, it keeps you humble, and it keeps you doing your best work, because you know that you’re only as good as your last movie.

James & Oliver Talk End of Potter
In a new interview with the Globe and Mail James and Oliver Phelps discuss the end of filming Harry Potter and what it has been like.

What’s it been like being wrapped up in the frenzy around Harry Potter?
Oliver: It’s been something totally different to what we thought it would be when we first started. I don’t think anyone involved assumed that it would get to the size it’s gotten to.

Have you had strange or frightening fan encounters?
James: There was one when we were on holiday in Mexico and I was having a swim in the sea, and this Mexican lady swam over and said, “Are you in Harry Potter?” Like, “Yeah.” “Oh, okay.” And then she just swam back. It was so random and surreal. But Potter fans in general, they’re really cool. We went to a Raptors game last night and the Leafs game on Tuesday, and people there saw us and said, “Hello, how’s it going?” but let us get on with our evening.

Is there ever a point when you think, enough with Harry Potter?
Oliver: I think we’ve been fortunate to play the characters where you can have a laugh, you know? It’s never too serious. It’s always really fun to play, you don’t get too down on it, and everyone treats us well at the studio. I think it’s coming to an end at the right time for everybody.

Were you readers of the series when you were cast?
Oliver: I’d read the first three when we went for our first audition, I think the fourth book had just come out. But I was kind of in a bubble on the whole thing, I didn’t realize the magnitude of it. I just picked the first book up when I was in the school library once. So we turn up for the audition and we suddenly realized that there was about 6,000 people going for all different parts and we thought, oh, are we doing the right thing here?

Do you spend a lot of time promoting the films?
Oliver: When the last film came out, we were fortunate to travel quite a lot around Europe and Scandinavia with our friends. And it’s great to go to new places because we’ve never been to Toronto, so it’s always a great excuse to check out the nightlife and everything.

Are you good friends with the cast?
Oliver: Yeah, definitely. We play quite a lot of golf with a few of the guys, go to music concerts and everything, so there’s always something to do with each other.

New Pics
Ok Muggles, once again from THE only place to find real Potter exclusives; and for the more discerning of you, who value quality more than quantity here's a few more gems to keep you entertained over the Holiday period.

This truly wonderful and exclusive photograph is of the inside of the Malfoy residency. What else but such a grand room could be expected from the opulent Family.

Inside the Hogwart's Express! but not THE Hogwarts Express, this is a special version, built within the studios and used for some 'extra' special shots in the forthcoming Deathly Hallows.

and last for now, but by no means least ;-) is an amazing outdoors look at the entrance to the Lovegood home.
I'm going to leave out the details of this shot for now, so you can decide yourselves how and when it will feature! But DO check out those amazing 'fruits' - could ONLY be Luna's house right?!

If you missed our previous exclusive photos and close up shots last year of the etchings created in and around Luna's home, be sure to check out our archive section, along with THE first look inside the Granger Kitchen and much more more......

Confirmation too that the main unit Potter gang will be on a 5 week hiatus from 16th April - 21st May ;-) with a few of course making the obligitary trip to the hyped up 'funfair' currently going on in Florida. Personally, the more I read about it, the less inclined I am to want to visit.

Upcoming Book
It's called Harry Potter Film Wizardry. It's just a compendium for fans on the HP films. It's to have past and present directors of the HP films, as well as excerpts from the cast as well.
SnitchSeeker, via Sue was able to get many photos of the book, that is due out 19-October-2010.

Bloomsbury Redesigns Harry Potter Books!
Bloomsbury’s Harry Potter website has been updated to show us that they have designed new covers for all the Harry Potter books; “The Signature Look”. Theywill be released on November 1st! According to The Bookseller:

The new “Signature” livery was created by Webb and Webb Design Limited, with illustrations by linocut artist Clare Melinsky on the front cover, back cover and spine, to “appeal to the next generation of readers who did not ‘grow up’ with Harry Potter and who have not yet experienced the thrill of life at Hogwarts”, according to the publisher.Melinsky said: “I was delighted and excited to be asked to illustrate the covers for such massively famous books—and seven of them! It was top secret for the best part of a year.”

Coincidentally, I had just finished my own redesign of the Potter books, I went for a more simple look but if you are interested you can check them out here!

Rupert Talks Deathly Hallows Filming

Rupert spoke to the Press Association about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows filming and the epilogue!

Asked who he would like to play him as an older man, Rupert said: “I think they’re going to go down the route of using make-up to make us look older, ’cause it’s only 20 years, we won’t have changed too much.”

The final scene sees Harry married to Ginny Weasley, played by Bonnie Wright, and Hermione and Ron married. Rupert admits filming the last instalment of the franchise has been emotional.

Speaking at the Empire Awards, he said: “We’re approaching the last few weeks, I think it will be quite a sad one, but it’s been so long, I think we’ll get over it. We’ll stay in touch.”

Dumbledore wraps!

Thursday last week (18th March) officially marked the final day of filming for Sir Michael Gambon in this, his 6th Harry Potter film...... where does the time go! We wish him well in his future projects and thank him for doing the impossible and replacing the late Richard Harris and making Dumbledore his own - a job very well done in the end.

"Hogwarts is threatened! Man the boundaries, protect us, do your duty to our school!"

As the magically amplified voice of Voldemort booms out over Hogwarts demanding Harry Potter be handed over to him, the final battle commences........

" I speak now, Harry Potter, directly to you.. I shall wait for one hour in the Forbidden Forest. If, at the end of that hour, you have not come to me, have not given yourself up, then battle recommences. This time, I shall enter the fray myself, Harry Potter, and I shall find you, and I shall punish every last man, woman and child who has tried to conceal you from me. One hour."

If the picture doesn't say it all, then this muggles, is another exclusive hp4u photograph of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as it stands now :-(

High-Res version will be posted, along with MORE amazing photos and reports which you will only find HERE!

Godric's Hollow Scenes
An odd bit of news on some filming for the film. The following has been reported by Suffolk Free Press:
Scenes from the forthcoming Hollywood blockbuster Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows have been filmed in Lavenham.
Although none of the cast was present for the filming, the characters of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger will be added through computer wizardry – meaning film fans will actually see the Warner Bros blockbuster's main protagonists appearing in Lavenham's streets.
Jane Gosling, manager of the National Trust-run Lavenham Guildhall, spoke to the Free Press about the film crew's visit in January.

She said: "It was all very exciting. What the film-makers are going to do is turn parts of Lavenham into Godric's Hollow (a village featured in the book and film series) and the Guildhall will be Harry Potter's parents' house.
"It is all very clever. They filmed parts of Lavenham and will edit out any modern houses and bits they don't want digitally."
Prior to the day of filming, which took place on Friday, January 29, location managers working on the seventh instalment of the film franchise made several visits to Lavenham and decided to use it as the basis for Godric's Hollow after deciding it had an "ethereal" quality.

Fire on the set
A fire broke out at an HP set in Leavesden. What with the pyrotechnics in these movies, it's really to be a surprise it's not happened until now.
Fire Patrol was called out when a mocked up castle caught on fire around 9pm last night.

Watch commander Tony Smith said: "I think they are filming some stunts for the last scene. There is a big battle scene involving a lot of pyrotechnics and explosions.
There is a mocked up castle made of timber, steel and plastic - somehow it caught alight.
By the time we got there the on-site fire crew had it pretty well under control - they did a good job.
We just helped damp it down and inspected the area.
I didn't see any cast - but there were about 100 crew, who were all evacuated to a marshaling area. They didn't seem too concerned.
It's hard to say how much damage was caused, because some of it may have been planned as part of the filming.
Perhaps they got much better footage than they expected."

UPDATE
This from NewsoftheWorld:
Explosives used in action sequences set light to scenery for the wizardry school.
Firefighters battled for 40 minutes to bring the flames under control but the set - centerpiece for the film's Battle of Hogwarts climax - was left badly damaged.
Our source on set said: "We were shooting the scenes where Hogwarts gets blown up during the battle. But fire managed to catch hold of the set and it went up in flames. It was completely out of control at one point."
Some actors were still filming at the studio but none of the movie's biggest stars - Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione) or Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) - was involved. No one was injured but our source added: "The special effects guys involved are devastated."
"There's always a risk when there's shooting involving fire and explosives but this shouldn't happen."
The costly blaze will not help studio bosses, who are battling to finish the film in time for its November release.

Bits of The Deathly Hallows Shown
WB was apparently a smash at ShoWest the other night. They brought out several different movies to get a glimpse at, one of course being the upcoming Death Hallows.
Cinemablend had the following to say on the viewing:
They weren't just bold in what they showed us, but how they did it-- the first scene of the extended trailer was Harry and Voldemort's confrontation in the woods outside Hogwarts. Harry, bloodied and visibly terrified, approaches a cold Voldemort (flanked by Bellatrix Lestrange); Voldemort taunts Harry, "The boy who lived, come to die."
We saw little bits of everything, from the seven Harry Potters escaping from the Dursleys house (totally surreal) to the attack at Bill and Fleur's wedding to the escape from Gringotts on the pale dragon and even Hogwarts on fire. With unfinished effects it's hard to really say how it all looks, though some of the most effective moments were the simplest-- Ron and Harry's fight in the tent, Harry visiting his parents' graves, running away from the Snatchers in the woods, Harry defiantly telling Voldemort that he stays alive "because I have something worth fighting for."
One odd moment-- one of the final shots was of Hermione riding a broom, by herself, escaping from a fireball that's likely the curse that Crabbe and Goyle set off in the Room of Requirement near the end. Did Hermione ever ride a broom by herself in the books? Is this a change that will mean something bigger, or just something convenient so the movie doesn't have to bother explaining that Hermione isn't good on a broom? It's the kind of nitpick that only the geekiest Harry Potter fans will ever care about-- but that's what you have me for, isn't it?

Collider.com was also there, and had this to say:
The footage started with Voldemort walking in the forest with all of his followers around him. He was looking for Harry. While I assumed the footage was going to be just from the first Harry Potter movie coming this November, I think the opening was from part 2 and it was from the big climatic battle between Harry and Voldemort! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
So we see Harry coming towards Voldemort partly beat up and with a look of nervousness. It was then we cut away…
I’d say in total the footage was 4-7 minutes but I could be off. Other bits of footage were Harry, Ron and Hermione in the forest fighting as Ron tells Harry that since he already lost his family his pain isn’t as important (or something like that). We also saw tons of pre-viz mixed in with shot footage like Harry flying with Hagrid and Voldemort chasing him with other Death Eaters. I also saw a scene of all the Harry’s from the beginning of the book. Other bits were the kids in London walking around, Bill Nighy as Rufus Scrimgeour, Harry and Ginny kissing, Snape at a very large table with Voldemort and his followers telling him that Harry will be brought to a safehouse where it would be hard to get him (the beginning of movie 1), and so much more. Some of the footage looked like it was done and some was very rough. The only thing I knew for certain after watching the footage was the movie is going to be amazing and I am so happy the last book is in two parts.

The trailer ended with the info of when the movies are getting released and how they’re both in 3D. Which is awesome.

New Video Footage
First, for a sneak peak behind the scenes of HP. It's just a one minute long piece trying to gear everyone up for the announcement of the Grand Opening of the HP theme park. Which will be announced 25-March @ 12 EST.

The next is another small piece by Orlando's 6 News, showing some aerial footage of what they say is the Park entertaining the Corporate big shots. Also has many employees in their costumes and moving in and out of the now guarded area.
You can check that out by going HERE.
