That's Happy New Year in Chinese (or so I'm told). January 29 is the start of the Chinese New Year.
According to the Chinese zodiac, the animal that gives its name to the year when you were born governs your personality. And 2006 is the year of the dog, which means you take life seriously and money's not that important to you.
Gung hay fat choy! (Have a prosperous and good year)

Ok, first off, I'm really sorry for assuming that everyone would know what a script reading is. Well? You know what they say about assuming. Caught up to me. Anyhow! Just a quick note on this and a few other questions that have been coming in:
A basic script reading is simply the cast getting together with the important people (the ones who're spending the money and actually take an active role in the film) and the director, and read from the scripts they're given. No, not the whole cast is there. That'd be too chaotic, but in a film like this, usually the key members that are constantly interacting in the film will be. As I said before, Luna really Isn't a key member. And please don't everyone get mad at me on that. But the fact is, lots gets skipped over, especially in the last two films; and she may get very little screen time. I, nor our team at HP4U know one way or another at this point.
Most of the time, you'll find them in a large room, and they'll go over things. This is where you can find just Some of the adjustments, things both the actors and director wish to change. It's a 'First Feel' sorta thing.
Ok, as for the casting? While I've been given possibles for certain actors and actresses, I really despise the whole rumour mill. So until my friends actually see them AT the site/set, and know for sure they're their for that part, OR WB themselves put out a press release, I am not about to put it up here.
So no, currently, we aren't aware of the part of Luna Lovegood being cast solidly yet, or Bella or others. And as for the main trio staying. Only they know, and perhaps not even. Things change. So we'll all just have to wait and see, and PRAY they all come back.
Can you just Imagine ANYone else playing Severus Snape than our lovely Alan Rickman??:D Or Lucius Malfoy for that matter.
Ok! I think I'll be going for I make a serious embarassment of myself here. I hope that answers some of the questions on the script reading. And yes, it's something that usually lasts quite a while. However, it gives those of us that get to attend the sets and visit, something to really look foward to.
Cheers all!
Ty

Ok, well, that was quick. But as of now, I can say that the reading Did definitely include adult cast. I wasn't about to ask each individual name. My friend needs to sleep, not be grilled by me.
After our recent warning I contacted Kate Chilton, one of Warner Brothers' 'legal eagles', regarding the reports about the e-mail scam, which is being aimed specifically at children. Apparently recipients are being offered roles in the next Harry Potter film, but are being asked to pay 'tuition fees'.
Warner Brothers NEVER RECRUIT BY E-MAIL!!!! Kate says:-
"You are correct that Warner Bros. would never recruit via email. Generally, casting for motion pictures is done by our casting executives and they rely on their own knowledge of actors/actresses and also rely on agents.
Warner Bros. does not have open casting calls for motion pictures where members of the general public can show up and audition. If extras are hired for non-speaking roles, the production will generally contact a service like Entertainment Partners and ask for a certain number of people to be sent."
Obviously there are exceptions to these rules (as the recent 'open casting' for Luna Lovegood proves), but do not be conned into paying anyone to get you into the film!!!
Please let us know if you have been approached in this way, or you can contact Warner Brothers direct via e-mail to anti-piracy@warnerbros.com. We will of course pass on any information we receive.
If you are a child and you receive an e-mail from anyone you do not know you should tell your parents, or guardian!!
My advice, for what it's worth, is if you want to be an actor or an extra in any film - join a reputable agency!
Constant Vigilance!!!

As always, you'll be great, and thanks!
**And no, while we can't give away names, the info IS absolutely genuine, and NOT a rumour.
Ok, my most Sincere apologies for not having the link for the contest up. It was recently, and accidentally taken down from the main page. Let's just blame it on the owner (since he doesn't read our news anyhow), and leave it there shall we?:)
Anyways, it's up now (again), and trying to make things right, I'm extending the competition till the end of Febuary. So no more pieces will be accepted after Febuary 28th, 2006.
You can check out all the info by clicking where it says Fan Art Contest in the top of the right hand sidebar.
Thanks!

The open casting call for the 'perfect' Luna Lovegood took place in London today, and thousands of teenage girls braved the cold weather in hopes of landing the plum part in the next Harry Potter movie. After waiting hours in line, some even sleeping in the street the night before, many were disappointed as their hopes were dashed within seconds of being seen by the preliminary judging team.

"The experience made you feel worthless as after queuing for hours it only took seconds to be rejected. They only picked people with blonde hair and blue eyes. It was about looks not talent!" Alicia, 13, London

There is an interesting article at the Yorkshire Post Today website about the actor who plays one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter books. Matthew Lewis, who plays Neville Longbottom, talks about his decision to go back to school in the sixth form to study for his 'A' levels - the Hogwarts equivalent would be NEWT's.

According to CBBC Newsround, Warner Brothers are still looking for someone to play the part of Luna Lovegood in the next movie - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. So if you think you are a little bit 'Loony', and like reading magazines upside-down, then you need to get along to the open casting being held at The Central Hall Westminster, Storey's Gate, Westminster, London SW1, this Saturday, 14th January. The queue opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 2:00 p.m.
We can only suppose that their previously reported 'short-list of five girls' were not 'Loony' enough!! They say that they do not want to miss the right girl so they are holding this open casting. Be warned however, there are some restrictions - you must be between 13 - 16 years old, you must live in the UK or Ireland, bring proof of age and residence, and come as yourself (no costumes, etc).
You can whizz over to the CBBC Newsround site for all the details via this portkey -

Entertainment Weekly has posted its top ten book list for 2005. Here is what was said about J.K.'s book:
------------------
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince J.K. Rowling-
Rare is the series that remains so imaginative, so consistent, and so beguiling this late in its cycle. With the penultimate volume in her planned seven-book saga about a heroic teen wizard, Rowling restores narrative discipline and ties up some loose threads in preparation for her eagerly awaited (and, alas, still unscheduled) grand finale. The horcrux of the matter: Rowling is still at the tippy-toes top of her game.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire's Death scene in the Cemetery is fourth on Entertainment Weekly's tragic list, featuring movie moments that made everyone cry in 2005.
-------------
4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: The murder of kind and decent Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson). It's the darkest moment up to that point in the Potter saga, as Harry experiences the death of someone close to him for the first time since he lost his parents. Meanwhile, he's forced to confront just how deadly his nemesis Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is, and how likely it is that their clash may claim the lives of more innocents.

Veritatserum is reporting a list of eight deleted scenes that will be found on The Goblet of Fire DVD. They go as follows:
SCENE 1: Dumbledore asks his students to welcome the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students as warmly as possible, and the Hogwarts students then break into song ("Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts").
SCENE 2: A Durmstrang student asks a girl to go to the Yule Ball with him. She says yes, while two of her friends gesture something in the background.
SCENE 3: Harry tries to catch Cho, but she's surrounded by her friends, so he waits until later (at the Owlery) to ask her out.
SCENE 4: Flitwick introduces the Weird Sisters band at the Yule Ball, the lead singer makes a short speech, and they then start one of their songs.
SCENE 5: Karkaroff warns Snape about the growing strength of the Dark Mark, which is emblazoned on both of their arms. Snape pays no heed to his warnings, and instead mentions something about Fawcett and Stebbins (two students), who appear briefly in the scene.
SCENE 6: Mr. Crouch talks with Harry, and during their discussion, Mad-Eye Moody appears, prompting Mr. Crouch to leave.
SCENE 7: Harry, Ron, and Hermione discuss Mr. Crouch's death and its implications. Ron thinks that Fudge will do his best to hush up the incident, and Hermione suggests that Harry talks to Dumbledore about it.
SCENE 8: The trio guess what Karkaroff is hiding on his arm. Hermione asks Harry which ingredients Snape claims he stole from his cupboard, and she quickly realizes that they are ingredients in the Polyjuice Potion.
