On Saturday, the Quincy Community United Methodist Church in Massachusetts will become Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the second year in a row! Adult volunteers will dress up as characters in the books, while children get to step into Harry's shoes for the afternoon by being sorted into houses; trying out for Quidditch, drinking Butterbeer, and go through a Tri-Wizard Tournament! The church's minister, the Rev. Susan Jarek-Glidden, doesn't believe with those who see the children's series as anti religious.
"Harry Potter teaches it's right to stand up for yourself, it's right to stand up for your friends, to be devoted to a cause." Even, she added, to be willing to "give your life for your friends. Hello? Have we heard that one before?"
The books, she said, are "a wonderful series that teaches about good and evil."
You can read more about the event here!
You go Susan! All you Massachusetts Potter fans better support this event and talk a walk in Harry's shoes!
