Give a shout for fansites!
Want to let everyone know your favorite HP fansite? Movies.com, a leading Web site for movie fans, announced today the call for entries for its Second Annual Movie Site Awards, honoring compelling movie and fan sites that demonstrate enthusiasm, quality and creativity. Beginning May 10th, movie fans and site developers can visit HERE to nominate sites devoted to individual movies, actors, and directors associated with films exhibited in 2005, including official movie sites developed by a studio or distributor and individually operated "fan sites."
"Movies.com is excited to provide a voice for fans who want to honor extraordinary movie sites on the Internet," said Dan Sherlock, vice president, Movies.com. "We were delighted with last year's inaugural launch of this competition, with more than a quarter million online votes cast. This year we expect to reach an even larger audience to further recognize sites that embody the true spirit of a film and character of an actor or filmmaker."
Last year's award recipients included: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (winner, Best Official Movie Site); Billy Boyd (Best Official Actor Site); and Salma Hayek (Best Official Actress Site), among others.
"It was such an honor to have Movies.com recognize my website. It's the least I can do to thank the people who have taken an interest in 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy and my other projects, past and present," stated 2004 Best Official Actor Site winner Billy Boyd who portrayed Pippin Took in The Lord of the Rings.
Fans and site developers can nominate their favorite sites in the following categories:
-- Official Movie Site
-- Movie Fan Site
-- Official Actor Site
-- Actor Fan Site
-- Official Actress Site
-- Actress Fan Site
-- Official Director Site
-- Director Fan Site
**To qualify for an award nomination, the site must involve a movie, actor, or director that was associated with a theatrical release in the last three months of 2004 or any time in 2005. Nominations must be submitted HERE and received by June 30, 2005. Movies.com editors will review all nominations and finalists will be announced on July 13, 2005 at which time online voting for the finalists will begin. Site fans can post on the Movie Site Awards message boards to provide their perspective on sites and add their support for nominees.
Two awards will be granted in each category - Audience Pick and Editors' Pick. The Audience Pick will be chosen from the finalists through online voting located HERE. The Editors' Pick will be chosen by Movies.com editorial staff. Editors' Pick criteria includes depth and breadth of information offered, factual accuracy, demonstrated ability to engage fans, overall design and ease of use. Winners will be announced in late September and will be featured on Movies.com.
