Carving out Halloween Fun
SALEM -- Meals on Wheels awarded participants of the first Scarecrow Challenge and seven cash prizes to carvers following the 8th annual Giant Pumpkin Carve held October 16th at the Salem County Fairgrounds.
"Each year the carvers become more creative. As visitors placed their votes in the ballot box, they would lament that it was very hard to make a decision, said Meals on Wheels Executive Director Sharron Schultz. "During the first hour, all visitors are given tally sheets vote for their favorite entry," she added.

Best of Show went to returning winner Deborah Smith of Elsinboro for her three-dimensional headless horseman entry. Second year carver, while Marcia Allman of Pilesgrove won in the Most Halloween category for a Harry Potter character rendition of the Dementor's Kiss.
