CN Tower to host movie-set exhibit
Toronto will be the first city to host the touring exhibit The Secret Life of Sets: Set Decorators at Work. The exhibit will be on display in the CN Tower from Sept. 8 to Jan. 2, 2005.
Organized by and originally housed at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences headquarters in Beverly Hills, Calif., the exhibit celebrates the art of contemporary set decoration. The show contains sets and items created for a range of movies including Spiderman 2, The Cat in the Hat, Down with Love and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Behind-the-scenes displays feature film clips, artwork and photos, as well as interview footage with the set decorators themselves.
Toronto will be the show's only Canadian stop before it travels to Chicago and New York next year. The exhibit aims to complement the Toronto International Film Festival, which open the same day.
