Charity Cricket Match

James and Oliver Phelps who play the Weasley twins in the Harry Potter movies delighted fans at a charity cricket match yesterday. They were joined on the team by actor Alfie Enoch, who plays the character Dean Thomas.

The Bunbury Cricket Club, which has been supported by countless stars from the worlds of sport and showbiz, put up the celebrity team, which included David English, vice-president of the English Schools Cricket Association.

They took on a Finedon side made up of a President’s Invitation XI, to celebrate the club’s 175th anniversary this year. Mr English, who founded the Bunbury Club 23 years ago, said: “It’s my second visit to this area and I’m delighted to be here.”

After an afternoon’s cricket the crowds were entertained by local musicians and supporters of the Finedon team, The Cupping Melons, with special guest the Rev Richard Coles, parish priest in Finedon and formerly of 1980s band The Communards.

Proceeds from the event will go to the English Schools Cricket Association.

HP Tour @ Leavesden
A friend recently told me he didn't see how WB could possibly stay away from the Harry Potter franchise now that it's over. "It's like having a licence to print your own money".
While this has been in the works for quite some time now, he was right. They'll be printing their own now via Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter; which is slated to open in Spring 2012. WB recently put out a small, near two-minute clip previewing it.

Harry Potter Page to Screen Book
The official name is: Harry Potter Page to Screen: The Complete Filmmaking Journey. And while it's currently up at Amazon.com for pre-order, it's not set to make it's debut till 25-Oct-2011.
It's a hardcover book featuring 540 pages, available through Harper Design, and is listed there at $47.25

Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, recently released a statement to the press as follows: “The Harry Potter film franchise has now crossed the $7 billion mark worldwide, and counting. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” has earned an astounding $640.2 million worldwide in its initial week, encompassing $214.9 million domestically and $425.3 million at the international box office."

Kloves on Hermione
Mike Sragow (of The Baltimore Sun) recently had a small interview with screenwriter Steve Kloves. In it, it shows his fondness for the character Hermione, as well as his realization of her importance to the audience. Read below to check it out!
Steve Kloves, who wrote seven of the eight Potter films, shot me an email while finishing up his opening-week interviews in New York. I had mentioned that my piece was focusing on the series' simultaneous appeal to boys and girls -- and Kloves warmed to the subject, especially because I had zeroed in on Hermione as a key to the books' and movies' critical and popular success. (Above is Paul Byrne's interview with the movies' Hermione, Emma Watson, at the time of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.")

"There are so many great things about Hermione," Kloves wrote. "You and I could have drinks, dinner, dessert and start all over again and not exhaust the conversation. Point is, I was aware that I was shepherding three very special characters and that their appeal was broad and potent.

"And I was intent upon underscoring Hermione's importance. They really are a trio, you know. They're equals. One just happens to be a girl. That's why I wrote that line for 'Part I.' After landing in the burrow, Harry is intent upon leaving in the dark of night but Ron catches him. When Harry attempts to convince Ron to join him, Ron's response is instantaneous: 'And leave Hermione? We wouldn't last a day without her.' It always got a laugh. But a knowing one; the audience knew Ron spoke the truth. And it wasn't just girls laughing.

"I don't believe that boys find the action appealing and girls enjoy the characters. I think both boys and girls just enjoy Jo's writing. As you know, I have two children and both grew up with Harry Potter in many ways. When you have children, when you're a new parent, you read LOADS of children's fiction. Most of it is, shall we say, lacking. It feels written down to some perceived lower level of understanding. It's the literary equivalent of Gerber creamed carrots. Except possessing no literary nourishment. Soft. Gooey. Jo's books were never that. In fact, they never felt like children's books. Consequently children--boys and girls--embraced them eagerly. The books felt like proper books."

Kloves takes special pride in a scene that I think is as thrillingly ambitious -- and superbly executed -- as any in movies this year. "I believe the King's Cross scene with Dumbledore and Harry can hold its own with anything .... And remember. It's a scene constructed of the following elements: White space. Dan Radcliffe. Michael Gambon. Words. If people listen--and the two audiences I've seen the film with did listen; you could hear a pin drop--they might be surprised just what it is that Potter has on its mind."

Record Were Meant To Be Broken
And who better to do it than Harry Potter? None of course! Check out the stats below:
$92.1M in the U.S. and Canada Friday (including that record-setting $43.5M from midnight showings) and $44.2M Saturday.
Overseas, the franchise finale grossed $307M with 34M admissions from over 20K screens in 59 countries. That's the biggest international opening weekend of all time ahead of $260.4M's Pirates Of The Caribbean 4.
Led by record-breaking grosses in the UK ($36.6M) and Australia ($26.7M), all markets have performed exceedingly well, including Germany ($25.7M), France ($23.9M) and Japan ($21.5M). Globally, it also broke the IMAX opening weekend record with a worldwide gross of $23.5M, which includes setting a new record in North America with $15.5M. That makes for a worldwide total of $475.5M, yet another record besting the previous crown holder $394M set by 2D-only Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince.

Im looking forward to seeing it for the 4th time and seeing the fantastic performances of Griphook, Mr Ollivander and Seamus!

A big thank you to everyone for making it a truly magical experience once again. Highlights of the premier had to be for me meeting Helena for the first time (who gives another of THE performances of the film), once again chatting to Jason Issacs (and for all you Radio 5 live listeners who know of the Simon Mayo and Dr Kermode show you will know what I mean when I say 'Hi to Jason Issacs' - the spooky thing here was I was with them BOTH at the same time!!) and being in the theatre with Daniel and other Actors as they watched it for the first time - great atmosphere.

HP Exhibit To Hit Australia
The Harry Potter Saga might be done with, but the fans can keep the magic alive! Warner Brothers has announced that this Fall they will be sending out their Harry Potter Exhibit to Sydney, Australia. It's set to run between 19-Nov.-2011 to 18-March-2012, courtesy of the Powerhouse Museum. This is said to be the only stop in Australia. So if your name happens to be Serizawa, you'd better be sure to visit and grab some pics to share!

WORLD PREMIERE

Hello again! We have just got back from the red carpet premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - and we couldn't wait to share with you what an amazing premiere it was.

I'm sure you watched the live webcast and you'll no doubt see countless photographs and reports in the media over the next few weeks but we have our own take on events direct from the red carpet itself.

Our first exclusive is that the red carpet at this premiere is officially the longest ever red carpet as confirmed by the Guiness Book of Records - we spoke to their official who confirmed this at the end of the evening.

My personal highlight was meeting the lady herself, Jo Rowling, someone who I have so much admiration for and she was wonderful and surpassed all my expectations.

FILM REPORT - Deathly Hallows Part 2

Hello!!!!!
We have had a short break working on several Harry Potter related projects but I can promise you we are BACK!! We have been working incredibly hard to bring you the exclusives that YOU truly deserve. We are back with a really big BANG today, bringing you the very first exclusive report from the preview screening at Leicester Square today (2nd July 2011).

HP4U were the only site in attendance at David Heyman's Heyday screening of the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - and we were simply blown away with what we saw. The Deathly Hallows Part 2 delivers exactly what every Harry Potter fan has been waiting for and much, much more. Furthermore, the film answers all those unanswered questions that were left hanging over from Deathly Hallows Part 1.
It was an absolute honour to sit with the invited guests and share the experience together. This screening was a complete one off event in its own right as David Heyman wanted to showcase this film for friends and family prior to any of the other premieres (which we will also be reporting back on!)
Today's screening was in 3D, this made the viewing experience even more breathtaking - highlights include the Gringotts Vault scenes, the vanquishing of Voldemort (utterly stunning in 3D) and my personal favourite, the Dementors who look even more eerie and terrifying as they hover outside Hogwart's with its new Headmaster Severus Snape!
The film delivers outstanding performances from every member of the cast; the most notable performances being from Harry, Neville, Griphook, Snape and Voldemort. Moreover, all of our favourite characters make an appearance in this great finale. It’s wonderful, albeit very sad, to see everyone together for the very last time.
The film itself is gripping from the outset, the pace is fast, frenzied and action packed - just outstanding!! There are some true 'lump in your throat' and 'wobbly bottom lip' moments but they all bring about an incredible level of depth and mood to the scenes. This particular HP4U writer had to try incredibly hard not to punch the air and shout "YES!!" at three pivotal moments in the film - you will definitely spot these moments when you see the film for yourselves!! I can't wait for you to see it - the film as I'm sure to all know opens across the UK on Friday 15th July 2011.

For Radcliffe, one of the biggest challenges this time around was relishing the moment and taking nothing for granted. “I’ve become particularly aware on this film that I’m not always going to be able to play these action-hero-type parts.”

Well, for one thing, the final showdown between Harry and evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) in a wand duel at Hogwarts will be a little different from what author J.K. Rowling described in her 2007 novel. This time, the chase leads through Hogwarts and culminates in a very physical brawl as the two foes “apparate” (i.e., teleport) toward and away from each other.

Rowling Breaking Down
Or at least views on having her words in digital that is. Her lawyers now say that “We are currently actively looking at all the various options for Harry Potter in this space, that is e-books.”
When it's not about the spotlight, it's about the money, and her crew have finally realized that more money is to be gained than lost in this venture. With reports stating a gain of about £100 million from such a deal, one can see why she's been swayed to change thoughts on allowing her books for digital viewing.

The Harry Potter Exhibition
If you happen to be unlucky enough to live in New York City, then you at least have something to talk about. The upcoming Harry Potter Exhibition, opening up to the public April 5th through 5-September-2011, which is said to be an interactive fan wonderland with over 200 set pieces, is having a 'red carpet' event at Discovery Time Square on 4-April-2011. Where fans have a chance to purchase seating in risers near museum in order to check out any stars that come along for the reveal.
All in all, this seems to be a way to beat the standing along the sidewalk hours (and hours) ahead of time, in order to be somewhere close enough to see any HP stars. However, I don't personally know if these 'risers' are anywhere close enough to allow for autographs. Should you care to call and ask, be sure to give them a ring at: 888.988.8692

For the 4th, the event is supposed to start about 7pm.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: The Making of Harry Potter

Earlier in the week Warner Bros. released a new website which gives fans the preliminary information about the Harry Potter Leavesden tour which has been dubbed Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter. The tour will take fans on a three hour journey through Leavesden and will open in Spring 2012 with tickets going on sale later this year at www.wbstudiotour.co.uk. This unique walking tour will give visitors the chance to go behind the scenes of the most successful film series of all time and witness the intricate detail that goes into a working set to see first hand what the camera doesn’t show. London Premiere Set for Deathly Hallows: Part II

The date for the Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows: Part 2 London premiere has been set as July 7th! According to the press release it is set to be the most spectacular premiere yet.
"Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that the world premiere of the final instalment of the Harry Potter film series, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 2, will take place in London's Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square on 7th July 2011.
This will be the first red carpet film premiere event in Trafalgar Square, the instantly recognisable landmark providing the iconic backdrop for one of the biggest film premieres to ever take place in the capital.
The cast, filmmakers and guests attending the final Harry Potter premiere will begin the night on the red carpet in Trafalgar Square with the world's media in attendance. Special areas will be reserved within the square for fans and competition winners from all over the world to see the actors and creators of some of the most beloved characters of all time. Cast and guests will then make their way to Leicester Square's cinemas to watch the film.

Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince Ultimate Editions to be Released June 14th

Home Media Magazine is reporting that the ultimate editions for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released this coming June 14th 2011. The 2-disc blu-rays will be $49.99 and the three-disc DVDs will be $39.92. Pre-ordering will begin on May 10th.

Potter Films to be Honored at BAFTA
At the upcoming 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards, the HP series will be acknowledged and honored as 'Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema'. Both Heyman and Rowling will be there to receive the award.
Finola Dwyer, Chair of the Film Committee commented, “As this great British film success story draws to a close with this year’s eagerly anticipated final instalment, it’s fitting that BAFTA honours the Harry Potter films and their contribution to the British film industry. Deathly Hallows Pt.1 DVD Release Dates
And that date is 11-April-2011 (U.K.) & 15-April-2011 (for the U.S.)! Warner Brothers has also announced that the DVD & Blu-ray will come in a Combo Pack having a sneak peek of the opening scenes of The Deathly Hallows Pt.2, while the single version will include' additional scenes'.
Also, WB is also releasing an online adventure called 'Quest for the Hallows'. The site has this to say about it "Join the Quest for the Hallows, a global, online adventure offering exclusive photos, video content, and the chance to win amazing prizes throughout the year in celebreation of the Harry Potter film phenomenon!"

Words on DH pt.2 From Bonnie Wright
So-Bonnie translated a recent article from 'Pop Start' about her role in the last installment of the HP series. Thanks to them for this.
What will we see of Ginny in the second part of Deathly Hallows?
I think, really, the character in this second part evolves a lot. She fights Bellatrix and more, I can't say much but in this part Ginny is great, apart from the epilogue, which I don't know if you knew but we reshoot it back in December.

In the second part there's war, will there be time for romance between Harry and Ginny?
Yes. There's a kiss, I can't say at which moment but there is a kiss. Also, the couple has significant looks and moments that I think they'll work [laughs] we did a good job with Dan (Radcliffe).

What has Ginny meant in your life?
I loved playing her! I was really lucky to do it, really, and I owe it all to my brother. At the beginning, people didn't care much about the charater, or she didn't have much love, or they took her as a fool (and I'm talking about the movies), but now they'll say: Is that Ginny? ...But really, Ginny is alsmot like me, I was shy at the beginning but then I became confident and I think I'm a good person.

Did you ever had a crush on Daniel Radcliffe?
No! Everyone keeps asking that. I've known everyone for years, I've lost count [laughs], but we always treat each other as friends and it will always be like that. Besides, it'll be really embarrassing, some people tell me: "Bonnie, you make a great couple with Dan!" and I just look at them blushing and smiling, Jamie (Campbell-Bower) looks at them, it's so funny.

Who do you get along with better from the cast?
Hard question, my best friends are Evanna (Lynch), Katie (Leung) and Emma (Watson) and I get along very good with Rupert (Grint) and Matthew (Lewis). Rupert is a great friend, he makes me laugh in the difficult moments and cheers me up. I'm lucky he's my brother [laughs]. Also Matthew, he's a great and excellent friend, really, I consider him as a brother, we get along just fine and he's really sweet and excellent. Evanna is really intelligent and daring. Katie is a very good friend, although we don't get along in the movies [laughs]; and Emma is really great.

What do you have planned after all of this is over?
Wow, those words! But really, I don't take it too personal. I have a few projects, really, and I'm studying a lot. But I do have some projects.

Yes, a lot, but I'll say we're a cast that is thrilled that fans like you support this franchise; thanks to these movies we're famous and loved but what we really care about is making fans happy and try to make the best so the movies don't disappoint them. The saga is over and the movies will be gone but this youth and happiness will never be away from our hearts. Thank you so much "Pop Star" and see you soon!

Fans in the UK are getting a special treat if they are a fan of Harry Potter on Facebook. Emma Watson has announced via a video on the page that there are two different designs for the BluRay cover of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and want you to decide which one is used! Both covers feature the image of the trio running in the forest, just placed differently.
To vote, “Like” the official Harry Potter UK Facebook page and click on the “Blu-ray Poll” tab. Voting ends at midnight GMT on January 30th. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will be on DVD and Blu-Ray in the UK on April 11th.

A Change in Snape's Death Scene

Art director Andrew Ackland-Snow recently let Potter fans know a little about Snape's upcoming death scene. Read on to get a gist of what we've to look forward to...

"We wanted to change a bit where Snape dies. In the book, he dies on the Shrieking Shack, and we wanted to get him out from, not a conventional interior, but from that kind of box, to do it in a more dramatic atmosphere. We asked J.K. if she agreed for that to happen in there, because we hadn't really seen it before. We made a crystal house, and you can see what happens in the boat house from there - Are you listening Harry? -, but also the school is in flames...and she loved it. Besides, it's a very romantic place to die. Snape dies in a extremely good way, I gotta say."

2 nominations for the Deathly Hallows Part I movie from BAFTA. The categories are in:
Special Visual Effects and Make Up and Hair. So, ok the second may not be top of anyone's list, but all the same, and award nomination is an award nomination. As for the other contenders, Alice in Wonderland, Black Swan, Inception, and Toy Story 3 (for SPE) are also in the running. And Alice in Wonderland, Black Swan, The King's Speech, and Made in Dagenham for MU&H.

Anyway, in Deathly Hallows, there’s Luna’s dad…
Yeah! That was nice. It was nice that everyone was back, everyone had their moment… You do feel it’s the whole Potter family all coming together… [Rhys Ifans] was fab to work with. He was great. I like that they showed more of Luna’s story because everyone’s like, “Where’d she come from? She’s so different!” And I also like how, at the very end, they’re forgetting who’s fighting with who… Harry and Malfoy have a moment where they understand each other… it’s nice. There’s a bit of Luna, at the end, who is sort of out of character as she has to shout at Harry a bit…
Luna, Neville and Ginny are leading the resistance at Hogwarts. Can you tell us a bit about that? Did you enjoy that character journey?
Yeah, that was really fun. I love how they sort of take over… when Harry comes back, and he and Ron comes into the Room of Requirement, and they’re like, “Oh, look at what they did!” It’s sort of like, um, I can’t remember … boys in a tree house and they have all these sleeping bags and these little statues in it… it’s really exciting. Harry’s the one who’s always taken the initiative. Harry, Ron and Hermione, they’re like… “we have to fight”… but now they’re gone and Luna, Neville and Ginny, they do take over. They realize, they can do something, and what they do is very valuable. All their contribution… so that was nice. It’s not like in the fifth book, where we’re just introducing her. Oh, look that’s Luna, she’s kooky, she’s fun. Luna’s just not in the background. She’s there, she’s helping and she’s fighting.
You’re the biggest fan on the set and the fans next summer are going to have to go through a horrible withdrawal next summer with no more films coming out. But you’ve had your withdrawal this summer. Any advice for the fans?
It will be a shock. It was a shock for me. I’ve been with everyone for so long. We’ve always had this question, what’s it going to be like when it ends. And then on the last day, I was, like, “Oh, what’s going to happen now?” But what I realized was that it did end but I was still talking to all my friends. I think that’s what they’ll realize, that yeah, sure, officially it’s ending but because you have all these friends who are passionate about the same thing you’ll still be alive and you’ll still talking about it. So, yeah, just enjoy it and don’t… I wouldn’t think about the end until it comes.

So Ginny, Luna and Neville are leading a resistance against the Death Eaters’ tyranny at Hogwarts. What was that like to play?
It clearly takes courage. This is the thing those three characters step up to, beginning in the fifth film, with the Ministry of Magic and Dumbledore’s Army, and they really take on the responsibility. They’re the only ones left continuing this resistance. Obviously Hogwarts becomes a completely different place, it becomes incredibly threatening and stands for everything it didn’t stand for before, such safety, and everything we had there is completely gone. Because we have new headmasters and all these new rules.

Are they going to succeed?
There’s an amazing scene in the second part, where obviously Harry, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts, and the other three have made this kind of hideout and haven, continuing Dumbledore’s Army in their own little way. I think that their dedication is pretty amazing, to keep that going, and I think that’s why people kind of love the three of those characters, really.

You’ve shot the Epilogue. Have you gone through an aging process?
Yes, it was a very bizarre thing to go through, really, to be able to have that chance to be suddenly made up to look mid-thirties. It’s was an exciting day but bizarre. Obviously, for me, it almost felt like a real cycle, because I started on that same platform, at the same age that Lily Potter, the youngest daughter of Ginny and Harry was, so it’s almost literally like looking back at myself.

Rowling says "No More Potter"

Last night was the premiere of the Deathly Hallows at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City, for a great overview of the events click here. Daniel Radcliffe revealed at the US Premiere of the Deathly Hallows that J.K. Rowling texted him to say that she would not be writing any more Harry Potter books.

Recent comments from the author led to much speculation that there would be future books about the wizard.

Daniel explains,"Basically, it amounted to the fact that she felt I had been very good in this Harry Potter film, and as a reward for that, she wasn't going to write any more Harry Potter books".

"I'm sure she will be writing other books. But I can pretty much guarantee that Harry will not be a feature."

Cast and Crew Premier - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

HP4U at the first EVER screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt1, Leicester Square, London, Sunday, 6th November, 10am.

Today was the World premier showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt1 and what a pleasure it was to be there for this absolutely stunning, moving, emotional and funny film that it is.

As per the request of David Heyman for all reviews and spoilers to be kept until after the official Premier on Thursday just a few words to say that Part 1 of the final film is exceptional and sets the plot up to build to a mega climax.
From the opening tense scenes involving some of the major Actors right through to the end you are left just wanting more and more.
In a script which in itself is quite dark and tense it has been balanced wonderfully with some great humour which had the audience of all those involved in making it laughing so much. Both the Adult and Child Actors were on top form and once again David Yates brings the best out of them, with Emma Watson's performance being a highlight.

For HP4U this film was a personal triumph; with so many of the key scenes that we were present at on location being shown. Godrics Hollow, Dartford Tunnel, Black Park, Old Scotland Yard and Swinley Forest to name just a few - ALL of the EXCLUSIVE behind the scenes photos and set reports can be found in our archives, be SURE to check them and more out!

As for todays Premier itself, once again all 3 Cinema's in Londons Leicester Square were used and all three David's visited each one to say a few words of thanks and introduce the film. Quite a few of the Actors were present and we'll post photos in due course.

The IMAX Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows page has been updated with information on the film and includes the runtime, which is 147 minutes. For those of you that don’t want to do the math, its 2 hours and 27 minutes! They have also added the following information:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I No Longer in 3D
On Friday WB announced that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I Will No Longer Be Released in IMAX 3D. According to the press release:

Warner Bros Pictures has made the decision to release “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate “Harry Potter” experience.

New Evanna Lynch Interview
Harry Potter Fan Zone was able to interview Evanna Lynch on their set visit last year and they have now posted their interview. She talks about being a fan of the books, Deathly Hallows and more.

Question: I’m curious if you could talk a little bit about when you first got the seventh book. Where were you? What was your reaction to reading it? Lynch: Yeah, I was invited to J.K. Rowling’s big thing in the History Museum in London. I went all dressed up and everything as usual and didn’t get recognised. Lucky. And, yeah, I read it in my hotel really quickly. My reaction, yeah, I was a bit overwhelmed. You know when you’re a fan you want to take it all in but you feel guilty when you put the book down because it’s like, “there’s stuff I don’t know in there”. I read it in a rush and sort of cried for ages after.
Question: You also play a prisoner in this film, could you talk a little about filming those scenes and how intense are they?
Lynch: Yeah, it was with John Hurt, who plays Ollivander. It’s a really spooky place because the ceilings are so low. Oh, and he has to be sort of frail and everything. And Harry comes down and then there’s Bellatrix torturing Hermione – you can hear the screams. You just get the feeling like, “how can you get out of here?”, and none of them have their wands. Yeah, it’s horrible.

Question: Is Luna much different in these two films than she has been in the past couple or is she sort of still the same?
Lynch: She’s always going to be the same [laughs]. Yeah she doesn’t change, that’s the thing about her, she knows herself so well. Most of them, they go through all these stages, where they’re like battling with themselves, but she’s so happy with herself that I think the only thing that changes is her surroundings. She has her friends this time and it makes her happier but it doesn’t really change her.

In a new interview with the Scotsman, David Thewlis briefly discusses the Harry Potter series and Daniel Radcliffe. David plays our favorite werewolf, Remus Lupin in the Potter films.

With Harry Potter the schedule couldn’t have been more different, he says; there it was mainly waiting around, sometimes for weeks. “I once got flown back from America for two days just to wait around and then got flown back again,” he says. “The thing about Harry Potter is it’s great fun because of the people – I was usually with Julie Walters and Mark Williams, Brendan Gleeson, Robbie Coltrane and the kids.
Wonderful, funny, amazing people. If you’re going to hang around on a set bored, you might as well do it with Julie Walters.”
Thewlis seems genuinely happy to have been mixing with muggles. As far as he’s concerned Harry Potter is a cinematic phenomenon, a one-off. “It’ll never happen again. You’ll never have three child actors going through adolescence just working on that one film, which is such a success. It’s been seven years in story time, 10 or 11 years in film time. Dan (Daniel Radcliffe] was only ten when he started and he’s about 22 now.”
I tell him I can imagine nothing worse than those years being committed to film. He laughs. “I know, but he’s remained totally sane. Not only sane but lovely and amazing. He’s a gorgeous guy, very articulate, very level-headed and funny. He’s never anything but really good company. He’s grown up into a beautiful young man and he could be a pain in the arse. I love him.”

Deathly Hallows Set Report Roundup
Set reports from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows have started to appear online on various fan sites. Here is a listing of the ones I have seen so far with a segment from each. There will be spoilers.

Can you talk a little bit about the nude scene?
Dan Radcliffe: It’s not really a nude scene. I’ve done a nude scene (refers to Equus). There’s a fair amount of stripping off, but it’s only down to the pants [underwear], really, at the very most. There’s one scene where I have to because I’m jumping into a pool of ice. I’m jumping into this icy pool and, obviously, have to be in my pants for that. Jump in, locket tries to kill me and then Ron saves me at the last minute. I dress in a hurry. It’s not big, it doesn’t really worry me. It’s fine, and this time around they even heated the water, which was pretty nice. You felt cold out of the water, but when you’re in it, it’s pretty nice.

David Yates: “There’s this torturing with Bellatrix. Emma was really keen to do this torturing scene. I said ‘it will be really great, and we have to be really careful of how we do it. And [Emma] completely gave herself to the process. What we did was we set up a couple of cameras and Helena got on top of Emma. Basically she was writing ‘mudblood’ on her arm. She was scoring it into her skin.”
“We just let the whole thing roll for about three or four minutes. In that three or four minutes there were some good bits, and some not so good minutes. And there were one or two really powerful bits where Emma was able to just let go a little bit and forget that she was acting. She’s still acting, but she lost herself in this process for a moment. And the screams were quite horrible to listen to. On the stage, everyone felt uncomfortable. Everyone just sort of stepped back a bit. It was a very odd energy in the room because she was kind of exploring… exercising demons really. And serving the scene in doing that. It was really interesting.”

The Leaky Cauldron

Following the mindset of doing what is for the greatest benefit to the film, the “Deathly Hallows” producers and actors each feel a true sense of duty to hold true to the books. ”Jo [Rowling] gives us the opportunities in what she has put together in Hallows to do things that I didn’t do in “Half-Blood Prince” or “Order of the Phoenix,” Yates explains. ”She’s so imaginative, so I never feel like I’m making the same movie.
Barron reiterates, and speaks to the news that actor Jason Isaacs was able to craft a unique ending for his character at the end of the “Deathly Hallows” by saying, “Obviously, we discuss with the principal cast; they all are intelligent people, they all have views on what their character would or wouldn’t do or say. Especially having been in for such a very long time, they really know their characters. But, equally, we are servicing the book and so our objective is to make proper filming rendition of the book and we wouldn’t stray too far– it’s nuisances, really– we wouldn’t stray very far from what Jo has written because she has given the characters what she felt… if they needed an ending, she’s given them an ending.

Q: What kind of action do you get to do?
Matthew Lewis: There’s a whole lot this year. We’ve just been rehearsing some stunts we’re doing next week. There’s an amazing bridge sequence that I don’t want to talk too much about, but there’s going to be some cool stuff in that and that’s going to be stunts of all kinds. We’ve got lots of running. I don’t know if you can see, but I fell over last week and have a scab on my knee there. Lots of running, lots of falling, lots of firing the wands off, lots of explosions and sometimes when you lose the wands, it’s more physical and that’s good. It’s just a bit of everything. It really feels like war.

Deathly Hallows Part I Gets It's Rating
The Motion Picture Association of America has confirmed to the lovely folks at SnitchSeeker that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I will be receiving a PG-13 Rating.

“Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1” has been rated PG-13 for some sequences of intense action violence and frightening images.

This is only the rating for Part I as part II is still in Post Production.

New Interview with Natalia Tena
In a new interview, Natalia Tena who plays Tonks, talked about Harry Potter and more!

As well as keeping people’s feet busy, Natalia has also starred in Harry Potter (amongst other things). What was it like working with those folk and is Daniel Radcliffe really a sexually dubious mummy’s boy as per his Extras appearance?
Nat: I got to pick my wand! It was very early mornings and lots of waiting interspersed with catching lots of jokes and riding on brooms. Daniel is banging and has enough energy to power rush-hour. The make-up ladies have brilliantly naughty laughs, especially Amanda and Sarah.
My werewolf husband in it, David Thewlis, reduced me to tears of hysteria various times before takes which were meant to be taken seriously and somewhere in Leavesden Studio is a plaster cast of my [bum]. Oh and Brendan Gleeson has the best hug, big arms you see.
We GOT TO PLAY THE WRAP PARTY!!!!! It was at the studio this summer, outside and just before we started playing the sky [hit] us with rain but it worked in our favour as everyone got on stage with us for cover and danced the [hell] out of it with us. There was a fairground for [eff's] sake!!!! Epic. I wore blindness-inducing pink with lashes to match and the boys scrubbed up like desperate hookers. Burgers were good too.

JK Rowling Handwritten Potter Pages Go On Display

A report in the Scotsman today highlights that the original, signed manuscripts, originally written as part of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, will be on show during the Wigtown Book Festival, which starts tomorrow and runs until the 2nd October 2010.

"The Ballard of Nearly Headless Nick" - a ghost who haunts Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - was eventually edited out of the second book in the series before publication

Fans of the stories will be able to read the framed pages displayed at Reading Lasses bookshop in Wigtown. The shop, owned by Gerrie and Susan Douglas-Scott, and Bex Woodsford, focuses on books written by and about women. "We're very excited that this bit of Harry Potter is coming home to Scotland for ten days," Gerrie Douglas-Scott explains.

The manuscripts were originally donated by Rowling to the Scottish Language Dictionaries in 2005 to help fund a new Scottish language dictionary. They are now in the hands of Ilyas Khan, a book collector and publisher of Asia Literary Review. The manuscripts have not previously been displayed in public. The exhibition was said to be a one-off and the pages will not be going on a world tour. Mr Khan said: "The Asia Literary Review has supported a number of literary festivals, but I must say that I am particularly pleased to see us in Wigtown."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUPERT GRINT!!!

HP4U would like to wish Rupert a very Happy 22nd Birthday! It was fair to say that Rupert was rather over-whelmed when fans sang "Happy Birthday" at the Apple Store on Regent Street,(See video below)

HP4U was in attendance at both of Rupert's events yesterday - firstly at the Santum Soho Hotel, London where Rupert conducted a Q&A with the press to promote and celebrate the DVD release of Cherrybomb and then he went on to the Apple Store on Regent Street for a Q&A with fans.

New Deathly Hallows Screening Reports
There are a bunch of new Deathly Hallows screening reports now online that you can read here! Here is a spoiler-free segment of one below.

For the spoiler-averse, here’s a paragraph that doesn’t give anything away: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows does an interesting job of interspersing the dire with the day-to-day, and I believe they were able to pull this off simply by letting the characters be themselves. There were many things that it successfully brought alive from the book, although purists may not quite agree with some plot lines that were cut here or there in favor of shorter, more movie-friendly methods of story-telling. By itself it feels like a complete story, which some may worry about considering it’s only the first half of a book, and quite an enjoyable one at that, as it stays faithful to the David Yates-directed films that came before it.

Report from Deathly Hallows: Part I Test Screening
Today, in Chicago, the first Deathly Hallows Part I test screening took place and reports are starting to appear online! If you don’t want to know spoilers do not finish reading this post! One fan, Gaby, has already posted some facts on her Twitter and I have someone who will be writing a report for Magical-Menagerie so I will post it here as well!

The movie wasn’t completely finished yet. You saw green screen in some parts & the effects aren’t done. The music wasn’t real either.
One of my fave scenes? Harry cheering up Hermione by dancing with her in the tent. (Was that in the book?)
I saw more of Voldemort in this movie than ever.
When Harry opened the locket horcrux, that was disturbing. Especially for Ron who had to kill it. It was like a Harry/Hermione shipper dream
Dobby’s death? I sobbed like a baby. D’: Every scene Dobby was in, the audience clapped. Never realized how much he was loved.
Ron & Harry’s fight was hard to watch. Poor Hermoine was devastated. But you could see how worn out Ron was. You couldn’t blame him.
Bellatrix is nuts as always. Totally cringed when she was torturing Hermione. (But Helena Bonham Carter is just too good)
